Germany: the state of Hesse chooses Evidian’s E-SSO solution
The German state of Hesse has chosen Evidian’s Enterprise SSO solution as part of its far-reaching e-government strategy.
The Evidian Enterprise SSO solution will be coupled with PKI-based authentication, enabling over 60,000 Hesse employees to access their applications simply and securely. Hesse chose the Evidian solution because of its completeness and its ability to handle PKI-based strong authentication and to interface simply with the chosen directory.
Hesse, a federal state of Germany, is deploying an ambitious e-government master plan to reorganize and modernize its administrative bodies. Started in 2003, the program now includes more than two dozen items with close to 100 individual projects, among which an authentication project based on single sign-on (SSO).
Hesse’s success in implementing e-government has been recognized nationwide with a first prize in the category “Most efficient organizational change” in a federal competition in 2006. The combined SSO-PKI-metadirectory solution will be proposed to other German states in future.
