What if your computer noticed when you arrive in the morning?
You would enter just one password and access all your applications - no other passwords required. And when you momentarily leave your desk during the day, your PC would just shut down the session or activate the password-protected screen saver.
Well, dream no more - Evidian and Bluelinea, a mobile device manufacturer, have designed just such a solution together. You just need to wear an Active RFID badge from Bluelinea, plug a tiny radio antenna in the USB port of your PC and install Evidian WiseGuard.
If you share a PC, you can also activate Evidian’s Fast User Switching feature as well. When a colleague approaches a PC after you’re gone, he or she will be up and running in a few seconds. You don’t have to wait for a new Windows session to launch.
Of course, you don’t have to equip every PC in your company: you could start with some free-access stations. Other than being a great time-saving feature and an added security (when you’re away in a hurry, people cannot access your applications), this makes particular sense in specific environments.
This is very useful in a department store. Salespeople want to keep the sales going and not make the customer wait for the station to boot up. Or in a bank, where an employee can approach any station with a customer to help him or her with a loan.
Last but not least, hospitals can equip their ER doctors and medical personnel with active badges. Diagnosis tools and other patient applications will be quickly visible when they approach the screen. The minutes that are saved over the day will save lives in return: you don’t want to enter multiple password in a critical patient situation.
