A group of 25 hospitals in northern France chooses Evidian’s IAM solution
PARIS - Evidian today announced a major success in the health care sector with the selection of its identity and access management solution by a group of 25 hospitals in France’s Nord - Pas de Calais region, representing over 25,000 users. The health care institutions concerned include hospitals in the cities of Cambrai, Douai, Dunkerque, Maubeuge and Tourcoing.
The project, deployed by Bull, consists in the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive solution. It covers access control with strong authentication and the management of the identity lifecycle of hospital information system users. As a result, health care facilities in the SiiH 59/62 hospital group can conform to the French law on medical data confidentiality.
Hospital group SiiH 59/62 took its decision as a part of its regional security project, which started with an inventory of the security policies of member hospitals. Issues emerging from this audit were the reason for a global request for proposal involving the three major identity and access management suppliers. This competition led to the choice of the Evidian solution, which will be implemented by Bull and its partner Altasys.
According to the hospital group, “The proposed project, which covers authentication and access control for persons accessing medical data, deals with a central issue in security policy”. For that reason, the five sub-projects cover the full chain of permissions: identity management, security clearance, access through single sign-on (SSO), authentication mechanisms such as smart cards and certificates, and traceability.
To facilitate the insertion of the solution in member hospitals, the project will also focus on maintenance, deployment support, training and skills transfer.
